Spencer Wilson commenced his journey in broadcast television production back in 1979 as a studio camera operator. In 1981, he moved to Network TEN as a videotape operator, where he began to develop a keen interest for the organisation and preservation of digital media. After 30 years in Australia and with overseas experience, Wilson then commenced work at the AFL. From the first days at work in the Video Production team, he became acutely aware and passionate about preserving the AFL’s video archive and championed the importance of metadata capture to ensure the collection’s searchability and value well into the future.
