Ian Stokes is the director of engineering for Gravity Media’s Australia-based operations. He is responsible for overseeing all engineering/maintenance aspects of the business, including projects, rental equipment, and skill development of technical staff.
Joining the Gravity Media in 2012, Stokes was first responsible for overseeing the implementation of the first supertruck built by the company in Australia, the success of which saw the production of four subsequent supertrucks.
During his time at Gravity Media, Stokes has been involved in the onsite operations of the Supercars project, including developing the technical platform for the deployment of multiple trucks. He has also successfully delivered projects including the Asian Football Championships, Winter Olympics, and Australian Open Tennis for Channel Seven Australia, which operated out of the Remote Broadcast Centre.
More recently, Stokes designed the systems and integration for the redevelopment of Docklands Studio Melbourne, Stage 5, which is now known as Gravity Media, Production Centre Melbourne. The newly designed PCM, with three studios and control rooms, played host to the Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022 Olympic Games, and more recently welcomed Racing.com into their new Melbourne home.
